New plant or expansion
The building is going up. Technology has to be ready the day it opens.
A typical situation
“The plant opens in 9 months and nobody owns the network, systems or floor connectivity.”
What usually goes wrong
In my experience the same problems repeat on new sites: network rooms with no cooling or no locks, closets placed where restoring service takes hours, low-voltage pathways that force rework, and internet circuits ordered late. Circuits often take 60 to 90 days, longer in new construction or where the carrier doesn’t serve the building, and six months or more in Europe.
Most of these are calendar problems as much as technology problems. The cheapest time to fix them is before the walls go up.
Start here
The Two-Week Assessment for a new plant or expansion.
We focus the assessment on:
- Who owns the network, systems and floor connectivity
- Where the closets, cooling and cabling go, and what the construction schedule needs from IT
- When circuits must be ordered so they are live at go-live
You get a written plan you can act on, whether or not you work with us again: an ownership map, a risk register with dates and costs, and a 90-day plan with decisions and owners, presented to your leadership team. The plan names the next step: a fixed-scope facility technology project (site IT design, vendor selection and a go-live plan), an advisory seat, or fractional IT leadership.
Scope is one site or entity and up to six interviews, for one fixed fee quoted before we start.
Experience
Why I can speak to this
I built commercial IT from zero at Rivian and supported 35+ site launches. I hired regional IT field technicians and sat with the construction and design teams to put IT milestones into their build schedule. Construction and design started coming to IT sooner, and sites could go live with connectivity ready.
Experience reflects my previous roles, not T&K client engagements. — Emily Roy, Founder & Fractional IT Director
